We are uploading the men’s game and will put the ladies game up shortly. We’re planning on posting the game individually, a third gallery for the coaches and officials, a fourth gallery for the other activities and a final gallery with the team pictures in them. Click on the galleries link on the upper right corner.

I have no doubt that Larry House spent most of a year getting ready for the GKCBCA annual banquet and the All-Stars Challenge games. It’s kind of a shame to show the games in just over a minute. Still we think it’s kind of neat!

Hope you enjoy it. We’re still importing images onto the hard drive. We’ll cull an post images Sunday Evening

Big doings!
The banquet celebrating the All-Stars from Kansas and Missouri is on for Thursday night at the new Independence Events Center. Jeff and I want to urge anyone and everyone to attend the event to show support and solidarity for our friend Jack Smith.

Jack has been a stalwart of the Liberty program for more than 40 years. The Lifetime Achievement Award they will bestow on him Thursday night is well earned and richly deserved. Team members, coaches, administrators, anyone who has benefited from Jack’s sunny presence would certainly be welcome, even urged!, to come out and give him the support he has earned.
Coach Stirtz has the tickets and particulars about the banquet and games. We’ll be there, and would love to see you there!

… to those who… what? work hard? get lucky? In our case both of those things are true.
As is often the case, our luck has been people. Coach Stirtz of Liberty High has been instrumental in this next piece of news, and we can’t thank him enough.
It seems that our little enterprise, KCSCSPorts.net, the photo team that Jeff started alone and let me come play too, has been designated as the Official Photographer of the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association. Far from being an empty title, it means Jeff and I get to shoot the annual banquet (where Jack will be honored) and the All Star games mentioned in an earlier post.

Two games in two days, both gorgeous days to be outside, both uphill for the Jays. Wednesday, Blue Springs South’s Jaguars scratched and clawed to a 6-5 win, dropping the Jays to 0-2 on the young season.

Christian Brinser shows off the balletic potential of 2nd base.

Our shooting positions have evolved over time. Coach Bragg let us start out last year shooting from the equipment huts along the 1st and 3rd baselines. While that vantage point had pluses, dodging errant throws to first and third got OLD quick.
We noodled and did it differently – a short ‘painter’s bench’ just outside the equipment hut, lean on the top of the fence, and shoot away.

Jag's 1st Basemen works one to the pitcher to get the runner

..and Jays 1st Basemen Dylan Stephens executes as well....

You can get really nice stuff that way. I was using the 100-400. In the sharp daylight, it served quite well, and we were able to make the most of the opportunity.

Getting the most out of what you have. That has to be the idea behind coaching HS sports. Knowing the coach and many of these kids, we feel certain they too will make the most of the chances they have.
