… our friend Shea took a bad tumble at Monday’s soccer game.
Jeff and Jack were there and were both properly frightened. Shea has always played full out, and Jeff says that is how she hit the ground – 100mph, at a bad angle.
After his heads-up call, I stopped by the hospital last night on my way home from class. I talked to Shea’s mom a few minutes and was re-assured: Nothing broken, but she will be very sore for a few days.
We do our best not to have ‘favorites’ among the kids, but Shea has always made that impossible. She is engaging, warm, a people person at 17. I have watched her be a great team-mate to the others on both the Soccer and Basketball teams, and it’s always been obvious her heart is much larger than her physical self.
If you can spare a moment for a good thought, please send it her way.
It was very hard seeing her laying hurt last night in the ER. We all wish her a quick return, full health, and continued success.
UPDATE –
Just talked to Shea’s mom and they are gathering up to head home. Good news!
